NYCFC II rolled to its first league victory of the inaugural MLS Next Pro season on Saturday at Belson Stadium, using seven goals to blitz Inter Miami II. First-half goals from John Denis and Massimo Murania helped pave the way before five additional goals from the home team capped off a 7-0 rout in Queens, New York.
NYCFC II broke through early thanks to a 10th-minute penalty kick goal from Denis, which was his third of the season. Murania doubled NYC II’s lead in the 16th minute, stroking a right-footed shot in the middle of the Inter Miami II box past goalkeeper C.J. Dos Santos.
Murania, the man of the match, would score his second of the game in the 58th minute and 4 different players scored to complete the most lopsided victory in MLS NEXT Pro this inaugural season.
Things went from bad to worse for the visitors when Romeo Beckham suffered a straight red card in the later stages of the game following a foul. Inter Miami II suffered its first defeat of the new season and aim to rebound at FC Cincinnati II on the same day. NYC II next travels to face Rochester New York FC on April 23, looking to earn its first multi-game winning streak.
