Carolina Core FC hosts an independent club clash against Chattanooga FC at Truist Point Stadium in the team’s second home game of the MLS NEXT Pro season. MLS Season Pass on Apple TV will livestream the match, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 pm ET.

Winning Ways

Carolina Core FC secured its first win of the MLS NEXT Pro season in their recent match against NYCFCII. The Foxes achieved their first-ever victory against NYCFCII with an impressive five-goal performance – just one week after a gritty 2-1 loss in the reverse fixture. Five players contributed to the scoresheet: David “Pachi” Polanco, Jacob Evans, Facundo Canete, Derek Cuevas, and MLSNP debutant Glory Nzingo. The Foxes controlled the game with 55% possession, 25 total shot attempts, and seven shots on target.

Truist Point Stadium’s home opener was a success, propelling The Foxes to seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings. They will be eager to maintain their winning momentum when hosting Chattanooga FC. A victory in the next match would place CCFC in a promising position to match its playoff aspirations.

Player to Watch

Glory Nzingo made an instant impact in his debut MLS NEXT Pro match last week against NYCFCII. The Irish midfielder registered two goal contributions (one goal, one assist) in the 45 minutes he was on the pitch. In addition to these contributions, Nzingo also notched a 93% pass accuracy rate (25/27 passes completed) and created five chances for The Foxes. In just his second-ever match for Carolina Core FC and being one of the most dangerous players on the pitch, the U-21 Republic of Ireland international has demonstrated that he has the technical ability to be a vital piece of CCFC’s playoff charge.

Visitors Undefeated in MLS NEXT Pro

Chattanooga FC, the only other independent club in MLS NEXT Pro, has started the MLSNP season brilliantly and remains undefeated (3-0-1) heading into the match. The club’s only draw occurred during a visit to Atlanta United 2, but CFC managed to secure an extra point with a penalty shootout victory. These results have Chattanooga FC at the top of the Eastern Conference standings in MLSNP with 11 points—one point clear of second-placed New York Red Bulls II. While Chattanooga FC has enjoyed a lot of success in the league recently, their U.S. Open Cup run was cut short by the Chattanooga Red Wolves in Round 2, similarly to CCFC.

One of Chattanooga FC’s standout performers this season has been Keegan Ancelin. The 22-year-old striker has recorded five goal contributions (three goals, two assists) in four league appearances (two starts) for CFC. Ancelin will be eager to find the back of the net again, as Chattanooga FC will be determined to maintain its undefeated record during its visit to High Point.
