Whitecaps FC 2 made a statement Sunday, scoring five goals in a 5-2 win over MNUFC2 in a battle between on-form Western Conference sides. Rainy conditions couldn't prevent both teams from playing fast-paced, attacking soccer.
WFC2 is Matchday 5's Team of the Matchday, as they continue to top the Western Conference in scoring with 15 goals through five games. WFC2 continues scoring by committee, with five different goalscorers finding the net during Sunday's win at Swangard Stadium.
Levonte Johnson was among WFC2's top performers with two goals. First-teamer Deiber Caicedo excelled, too, with a goal from the penalty spot and an assist.
WFC2's Lucas Dasovic scored with a quick reaction at the back post for his first professional goal. The teams headed into halftime level at 2-2.
Caicedo's penalty kick brought WFC2 the lead in the 51st minute. Then, he supplied Johnson with an assist in the 70th minute.
A fifth goal from Jay Herdman completed a memorable night for WFC2 in classic Cascadia conditions.
WFC2 showed last week's loss to Galaxy II was little more than a blip, and the team continues scoring at an impressive rate. The team sits third in the Western Conference with 11 points.
