Red Bulls II midfielder Rafael Mosquera has earned the MLS NEXT Pro Goal of Matchweek 27 after earning more than 50% of the poll vote.
Other Goal of the Matchweek contenders included Timbers2’s Noah Santos, MNUFC2’s Enrique Nieves, and Carolina Core FC’s Jacob Evans.
Mosquera scored early in the second half during a counterattack by Red Bulls II. The 19-year-old made a move onto his right foot and launched a stunning strike from outside the box, sending the ball into the net.
Even though Red Bulls II eventually fell to Chicago Fire II, Mosquera's impressive performance stood out once more.
Mosquera has been a crucial player for Red Bulls II in 2024, contributing four goals and one assist in over 900 minutes on the pitch.
Recently, he and teammate Omar Valencia were called up to the Panama U-23 National Team, making them exciting prospects to watch on the international stage for years to come.
Next up, Red Bulls II will face TFC II at home on Sunday, September 22nd.
