Houston Dynamo 2 midfielder Sebastian Rodriguez has earned the Goal of Matchweek 23 award after obtaining more than 70% of the poll vote.
Rodriguez beat out other Goal of Matchweek 23 contenders that included New York Red Bull II’s Julian Hall, The Town FC’s Aaron Edwards and Austin FC II’s Ervin Torres.
Rodriguez's award-winning goal took place in the 66th minute of Dynamo 2's match against North Texas SC, when the Houston Dynamo academy product recovered a loose ball near the left side of the box. The 16-year-old then sent a looping shot that soared over North Texas SC goalkeeper Michael Collodi and into the back of the net.
A native of Porter, Texas, Rodriguez has been a key player for Dynamo 2 this season, logging over 1,600 minutes while contributing one goal and an assist in 21 appearances.
With a playoff spot within reach, Houston Dynamo 2 will aim to solidify their spot in the Western Conference standings as they take on MNUFC2 twice during Matchweek 23.
