Carolina Core FC's Jathan Juarez has won the MLS NEXT Pro Goal of Matchweek 18, capturing over 50% of the vote.
Other nominees for the award included Columbus Crew 2’s Christopher Pearson, Atlanta United 2’s Matias Gallardo, and Tacoma Defiance’s Chris Aquino.
The 21-year-old’s goal came just before halftime against Crown Legacy FC. Caroline Core FC's Captain Jacob Evans set up Juarez, who then fired a powerful shot from the top of the box into the top left corner.
Juarez’s first goal of 2024 helped Carolina Core FC secure their first home victory of the season.
Juarez's performance was instrumental in his side's victory in front of a sold-out crowd. The former Houston Dynamo 2 player played all 90 minutes against Crown Legacy FC, scored the award-winning goal, and made three key passes, earning him man of the match honors.
Next for Carolina Core FC will be a metting with Chattanooga FC at home on Wednesday, July 17th.
