Chattanooga FC forward Mehdi Ouamri made headlines last week by clinching a victory for his side with an extraordinary overhead kick, a feat that landed him a spot on the SportsCenter Top 10 list.
Adding to his list of accomplishments, the young forward has now secured the title of winning the MLS NEXT Pro Goal of Matchweek 12.
Ouamri beat out an excellent crop of Goal of Matchweek contenders, earning close to half the total vote. Other nominees included Ventura County FC’s Isaiah Parente, Timbers2’s Josh Penn and Tacoma Defiance’s Faysal Bettache.
Ouamri has made a solid start to his MLS NEXT Pro journey, featuring in the starting lineup for 10 out of his 12 appearances this season. His contributions have been vital to the Chattanooga FC attack, as the 24-year-old forward has notched four goals and provided two assists so far.
