Chattanooga Football Club has an opening for an Assistant Coach for its MLS NEXT Pro Men’s Team. The Assistant Coach for Chattanooga FC has responsibility for assisting the Head Coach in training, team management, and development of players. The position is responsible for the ongoing assessment of soccer industry and trends and competition analysis. The Assistant Coach plans and executes training sessions with coaching staff.

The Assistant Coach must be able to operate in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment. A successful candidate has a proven ability to build respectful working relationships and effectively communicate with players and other staff.

General job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as an Assistant Coach to Chattanooga FC Men’s Team and perform assistant coach duties under the direction of the Head Coach and Sporting Director.
  • Plan and execute training sessions with coaching staff.
  • Assist in the daily set up and clean up for each training session as well as set up and clean up for game days as needed.
  • Review, edit, and manage all video analysis software and deliver clips to players and other pertinent parties. Train others on analysis software as needed and proactively troubleshoot any software issues and identify opportunities for increasing video analysis efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain expert level and up-to-date knowledge on the national and international soccer industry and trends and conduct ongoing opposition analysis.
  • Create Individual Development Plans (IDP) for playing staff and continually monitor effectiveness and adjust as needed.
  • Assist the Head Coach and Sporting Director with player recruitment and scouting.
  • Participate in and lead regular team meetings. Generate team meeting agenda and collaborate with other coaching staff on meeting content and direction.
  • Build and foster positive and professional working relationships with other members of staff including performance, medical, equipment, operations, and administration.
  • Meet with and collaborate with staff on a regular basis and openly accept feedback and guidance while providing expertise and advocating for player welfare and strategies for top level performance.
  • Create drill library and session logs.
  • Coordinate and communicate all away training with administrative staff.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of MLS NextPro sporting culture and foster this culture amongst staff, coaches, and players. Foster a positive team environment aligned with Chattanooga FC culture and mission.
  • Take responsibility for communicating feedback clearly to the team and make decisions that serve the business objectives of Chattanooga FC.
  • Regularly assist the Head Coach and Sporting Director with other duties to support the success of the club; the health, safety, and success of the players; and the overall business objectives of Chattanooga FC.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a USSF National B license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years direct experience coaching soccer at any level required, professional level coaching experience preferred.
  • Possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license, and maintain legally required employment eligibility.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills particularly in pressure situations.
  • Personal integrity and the ability to invoke trust and respect from others.
  • Evidence of successful player development.
  • Experience of developing and implementing innovative ideas and putting them into practice
  • Must have a passion for working in a high performing team environment.
  • High degree of personal initiative and strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development through relevant courses and conferences.
  • Complete any mandatory qualifications on an ongoing basis as required by associated governing bodies.
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours which will include extended days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights due to travel.
