2025 MLS NEXT Pro Matchweek 3 Honors

MLSNP MW 3 awards

Another MLS NEXT Pro Matchweek is in the books, which means it's time to spotlight the standout performers who dominated the highlight reels.

We're in the thick of it now, as Matchday 3 spanned from March 23 to March 30 which meant for a double-fixture week for several clubs, whether it be league matches or competing in U.S. Open Cup play.

Western Conference leaders St Louis CITY2 earned Team of the Matchweek by going unbeaten in two home matches during the busy week.

Player of the Matchweek goes to New York Red Bulls II's Julian Hall for a bold performance in Sunday's rivalry win over NYCFC II.

Inter Miami Academy star Yuval Cohen made a statement with four goal contributions in Miami II's first league win of the season.

MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 3: St Louis CITY2

CITY2

Of the aforementioned teams enduring a flexed schedule, St Louis CITY2 stood tallest to the task.

A 2-0 win over Sporting KC II and a shootout win over Austin FC II kept their season-long clean sheet streak intact and firmed their grip at the top of the Western Conference.

Will they stay atop the MLS NEXT Pro Power Rankings as well? It feels like a safe bet.

CITY2 also earned the Team of Matchweek 1 honor to open 2025.

MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchweek 2: Julian Hall, New York Red Bulls II

What were you doing when you were 17?

It probably didn't have the magnitude of Hall leading the charge in the MLS NEXT Pro version of the Hudson River Derby on Sunday. His efforts went the longest in Red Bulls II earning a 3-2 win over NYCFC II, handing their rival their first loss of the season.

The Red Bulls Homegrown played a ball through traffic to find Rafael Mosquera for an equalizer in the 67th minute, but his fondest memory of Matchweek 3 was converting the go-ahead from the spot in the 86th. The goal cemented RBNY II's second win of the season.

Hall signed his Homegrown deal with RBNY in September of 2023 and became the second-youngest goal scorer in MLS history (at CF Montréal, June 19, 2024) at just 16 years old.

MLS NEXT Rising Star of Matchweek 3: Yuval Cohen

Yuval Cohen

An Inter Miami Academy star was the drum-beater in Inter Miami II's first league win of the season.

Cohen was involved in each of Inter Miami CF II's goals in their 4-2 win over Columbus Crew 2 on March 23.

His big night started by forcing Crew 2 into an own goal to even out an early deficit in the 40th minute. He followed up with a goal of his own in the 42nd to give Miami II their first lead of the match, assisted Idoh Zeltzer-Zubida for the final go-ahead, and then added an insurance goal to complete his brace in the 86th.

The match was Cohen's first league start of the season but followed another brace from a start in U.S. Open Cup play where he helped Inter Miami II advance past Miami United 4-2 in the tournament's First Round.
