Back to Winning Ways

In their last match, The Foxes got back in the win column as they beat in-state opponent Crown Legacy FC 2-1, to end the season series undefeated.

The match started well for CCFC, as captain Jacob Evans opened the scoring in the 14th minute of the match, with a beautiful curling strike from outside the box. Crown Legacy FC would respond in the 56th minute, when Idan Toklomati found the back of the net following a pass from midfielder Aron John. The Foxes would secure the lead for good just 10 minutes later, as a foul in the box on Carlos Mario Diaz would lead to a penalty kick, which midfielder Facundo Canete calmly placed into the bottom corner.

CCFC would hold onto the lead and take all three points in the Battle of I-85. The win now puts Carolina Core FC one step closer to a playoff spot.

Columbus Crew 2

Columbus Crew 2 (CLB2) currently sits sixth in the Eastern Conference with 42 points, having collected 10 wins, seven losses, and eight draws during the season. In the 2023 season, Columbus Crew 2 finished fourth in the Eastern Conference standings and made it all the way to the MLS Next Pro final, where they would end up losing to Austin FC II 3-1.

In their last match, Crew 2 lost to conference leaders FC Cincinnati 2. After going down 1-0 early in the match, Crew 2 forward Chase Adams leveled the match at the end of the first half. A goal in the 48th minute from FCC2’s Amir Daley returned the lead to Cincinnati and ultimately gave them the victory.

Forward Chase Adams leads the line for Columbus Crew 2, having scored nine goals in 16 appearances for The Crew. Midfielder Owen Presthus leads the team in assists, with the 18-year-old stockpiling seven on the season. Another big impact to the CLB2 attack has been forward Brent Adu-Gyamfi. The Columbus Crew academy product has been crucial to The Crew’s success this season, having scored seven goals and four assists in his first season of MLS Next Pro.
