The Streak Comes To An End

Carolina Core FC’s five game unbeaten streak ended last Saturday as they were defeated by New York City FC II 1-0.

The match was a frustrating one for The Foxes, who would play with 10 men for a majority of the game after a red card was given to wingback Carlos Mario Diaz in the 46th minute.

The first goal of the match wouldn’t come until the 81st minute, when NYCFC II found the back of the net. NYCFCII’s Jonathan Jimenez Vargas drilled the ball into the six-yard box, where substitute Camil Azzam Ruiz would score via a deflected shot.

Last Matchup

In the last matchup between Carolina Core FC and Orlando City B (OCB) on July 7th, The Foxes would come out on top, winning 2-1 in The Sunshine State.

The first goal of the match would come late in the first half, with Orlando grabbing the lead just before halftime. Winger Yeiler Valencia dribbled down the endline before squaring the ball back across goal. The ball was knocked around the six-yard box before midfielder Shakur Mohammed tapped the ball in to give OCB the advantage.

Carolina Core FC would respond in the 60th minute with a thumping penalty kick from defender Ibrahim Covi following a foul on forward Josuha Rodriguez.

Only seven minutes later, CCFC would get their second goal and complete the comeback with a great finish from Josuha Rodriguez. Following an OCB attack, the ball was cleared into the middle of the field by wingback Carlos Mario Diaz. The Honduran striker would be first to the ball, shielding off an OCB defender before running through on goal and lofting the ball over Orlando goalkeeper Carlos Mercado.

This upcoming matchup with Orlando City B will be the third and final time these teams will match up this season.

Orlando City B

Orlando City B are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference of MLS Next Pro, with four wins, six losses and eight draws on the season.

In their last match, OCB was defeated by fellow independent club Chattanooga FC 1-0.

Chattanooga broke the deadlock in the 57th minute, with captain Alex Mcgrath netting his sixth goal of the season. CFC broke down the Orlando City B defense using quick two-touch passes. Defender Milo Garvanian set up McGrath, who dribbled through OCB defenders before placing a shot into the bottom right corner of the net.
