“Luis had a very successful season at Florida Gulf Coast where he was a starter and earned All-Conference Freshman Team.  I had the opportunity to observe Luis's development over the past 2 years and have seen a great advancement.  After monitoring him during his college season we feel confident that Luis is ready to take his game to the next level in the MLSNP league.  He is a high competitor and very savvy on the ball.  We look forward to seeing continued development in his game this season,” says Roy Lassiter, Head Coach.

Lugo rose through the ranks of Houston Dynamo’s Academy teams, earning his way onto the Houston Dynamo U-20s. With the U-20 squad, Lugo proved himself and quickly became the team’s captain for the 2022-2023 season. With the Dynamo squad, Lugo appeared in 23 matches, recording 18 goals and 12 assists before moving to Florida to play collegiately.

Lugo played his freshman season with NCAA Division 1 side, Florida Gulf Coast University. During this 2023 season, the midfielder appeared in 11 matches (starting 7 matches) and netted 3 goals. Lugo was awarded recognition from the Atlantic Sun Conference, making the All-Freshman team.

"We are happy that Luis went to college and got some games under his belt, in addition to some great coaching, as he awaited joining CCFC. He had a fantastic freshman year and made the All-Conference Freshman team. Luis is a genuinely smooth attacker who is very thoughtful with the ball at his feet, rather he is asked to play as a striker or as a midfielder. That is a rare quality found in a player so young. Our coaching staff is looking forward to working with Luis as we integrate him into our roster for the upcoming season," states Eddie Pope, Chief Sporting Officer.
