If you want to make a statement to earn the MLS NEXT Rising Star honor of the matchday, why not score the first minute you enter the pitch? That's what Inter Miami II's Cesar Abadia-Reda did this past Sunday when he scored a well-placed goal less than 20 seconds after subbing into the match to earn the MLS NEXT Rising Star honor for Matchday 5.
Inter Miami II told us that Cesar goes by "Cheche" and previously played for the Inter Miami Academy U-17 team that reached the Generation Adidas Cup semifinals in 2022. Cheche helped his squad defeat visiting Hunstville City FC in a Central Division match that was filled with action. The team from South Florida was down by two goals in the first 35 minutes of action when they decided to put the pedal to the metal and score four unanswered goals, including Abadia-Reda's.
Cheche was not the only Inter Miami II academy player who scored in their 4-3 win over HCFC. Lorenzo D'Agostini started the comeback with a rebound goal off a shot that the Huntsville City goalkeeper could not hold on to.
Inter Miami II will travel to Columbus for Matchday 6 when they take on the defending MLS NEXT Pro champions on Sunday, April 30. You can catch the action on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
