LAFC2 midfielder Tamir Ratoviz has earned the MLS NEXT Rising Star of Matchday 18 after his game-winning goal against Tacoma Defiance last Sunday.
In a thrilling match, LAFC2 made a strong start, taking the lead courtesy of an effort from Matheus Maia. Tacoma Defiance's Chris Aquino equalized the match in the 27th minute.
As the second half unfolded, LAFC2 dominated possession in search of a second goal. Defender Julian Gaines orchestrated a pivotal moment, delivering a low cross to Christian Dueñas inside Tacoma's 18-yard-box. Dueñas squeezed the ball past two Tacoma defenders and created the perfect setup for Ratoviz, who struck the ball with finesse and found the back of the net, scoring his first-ever goal in MLS NEXT Pro and sealing the victory for LAFC2.
Tamir Ratoviz has been a consistent performer throughout the season, having appeared in 10 games for LAFC2, starting in eight of them.
At just 17 years old, Ratoviz has accumulated 677 minutes on the field. In addition to his goal, he has provided one assist during his time with LAFC2.
Next for LAFC2 is an away fixture against CITY2 in St. Louis during Matchday 19 action, where they’ll seek to earn their fourth victory of the season.
