LAFC2’s forward Erik Dueñas has claimed the Goal of Matchweek 15 honor after earning over 60% of the vote. Other contenders for the award were FC Cincinnati 2’s Kenji Mboma Dem, Chattanooga FC’s Jalen James, and Crown Legacy FC’s Dylan Sing.
Dueñas’ goal took place in the 39th minute of LAFC2’s match against The Town FC after Shakir Nixon threaded a ball to Dueñas, who eluded his marker and launched a shot into the back of the net.
Dueñas' goal ignited an LAFC2 offense that had previously been missing the goal scoring power shown earlier in the season. LAFC2’s Matchweek 15 victory sparked a return to form for the side as they halted a two-game slide with a 2-0 win over The Town FC.
LAFC2 will attempt to secure consecutive victories when they play Colorado Rapids 2 at home on Friday, June 28th.
