Huntsville, Ala. (April 15, 2023) – Huntsville City Football Club will cross the equator to its seven-match road trip to start the season when they visit New York Red Bulls 2 at 6 p.m. CT on Sunday, April 16. Following the match, Huntsville City FC will only have three more road trips before the grand opening of Joe Davis Stadium on May 19.
Huntsville City FC (0W-1L-2D, 2SOW, 4 pts.), currently in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, earned an extra point against FC Cincinnati 2 on April 9. After the match finished 2-2 in regulation, HCFC won its second shootout of the season to earn the club the two points. Nashville SC players Tah Brian Anunga, Josh Bauer, Ján Greguš, Elliot Panicco and Taylor Washington, all of whom were on the bench against Toronto FC the night prior, made the trip to Cincinnati to start for Huntsville.
Ollie Wright scored the opening goal after delivering a banger from beyond the 18-yard box that earned him the honor of MLS NEXT Pro Goal of Matchday 3. The accolade marks the second time in three weeks Huntsville City FC earned Goal of the Matchday honors and third that a Huntsville goal has been nominated. Azaad Liadi won MLS NEXT Pro Goal of the Opening Matchday.
