Huntsville, Ala. (April 18, 2024) – Huntsville City Football Club announced today the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Faiz Opande (Fy-EEZ Oh-POHN-Day).
“We are excited to have Faiz join our group,” said Matt Cairns, Huntsville City FC Director of Soccer Operations. “His versatility in midfield and defense will be a great asset for the season ahead. Our fans will enjoy his energy, tenacity, and ability to pick a pass in the midfield.”
Opande most recently played in the United Arab Emirates’ FKF Division Two with Elite Falcons FC, appearing seven times and helping the club promote to Division One while teammates with current Boy in Blue Patrick Amarh. After his time in the United Arab Emirates, he earned a trial run with Crystal Palace of the English Premier League. Internationally, Opande represented Kenya in the 2020 CECAFA U17 Championships and is currently a member of the nation’s U20 squad.
HCFC’s newest edition began training with the team this week and will be available to speak to the media on Friday, April 19 at 12 p.m. CT following training. He will be eligible to play in Huntsville’s match this Saturday, April 20 at 7 p.m. CT against Chattanooga FC at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. Tickets to the match can be purchased here.
