Huntsville City FC Signs Midfielder Ethan O'Brien on Loan From Indy Eleven

Huntsville, Ala. (May 31, 2024) – Huntsville City Football Club announced today the signing of midfielder Ethan O’Brien on loan from Indy Eleven FC from the USL Championship. The newest Boy in Blue is eligible to make his debut on Saturday, June 1 at 7 p.m. CT at Carolina Core FC.

O’Brien signed with Indy Eleven in 2024 after spending three seasons playing collegiately at the University of Notre Dame. There he appeared 46 times with 37 starts while helping lead the team to the NCAA Tournament Semifinals in 2021, recording two assists in the postseason. In 2023, he served as Fighting Irish team captain and was awarded TopDrawerSoccer’s Goal of the Season for his winning volley from outside the box against Duke University.

Born in Ireland and raised in Washington state, O’Brien initially played in the Seattle Sounders Academy, where he helped lead the U15 squad to a fourth-place finish at the Cayman Airways Invitational. He then joined the Columbus Crew Academy, leading his team to a quarterfinal appearance at the National Development Academy Playoffs. Overall, he recorded 29 goals and 25 assists over his last four academy seasons and earned a spot on the Washington State Best XI.
