Huntsville, Ala. (March 28, 2024) – Huntsville City Football Club will wrap up its first homestand of the 2024 season on Saturday, March 30 at 7 p.m. CT against Columbus Crew 2 at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium.
Here are five things to know for Saturday’s match, airing live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
- Huntsville City FC will look to extend its unbeaten streak to four matches dating back to last season. The Boys in Blue (0W-0L-2D, 0SOW) would tie their longest unbeaten streak with a result on Saturday. Huntsville is one of eight undefeated clubs in the Eastern Conference this season.
- Huntsville is 0W-2L-1D with 0 shootout wins all-time against the two-time reigning Eastern Conference champions. The Boys in Blue earned a 1-1 draw the last time the two clubs met on Aug. 9, 2023, led by an Adem Sipić goal.
- Saturday marks the first time Huntsville will face a former Boy in Blue. Crew 2 midfielder Christopher Pearson made four appearances and two starts for HFCF in August and September of last season on loan from FC Tulsa of the USL Championship.
- Several Boys in Blue have made their team and MLS NEXT Pro debuts in the beginning stages of the 2024 season. Through two matches, nine players have made their team debuts: defenders Joel Sangwa, Chris Applewhite and Scott Cheevers, midfielders Sergi Oriol, Brennan Creek and Julian Gaines, and forwards Forster Ajago, Maximus Ekk and Alexis Cerritos. Sangwa, Creek, and Ekk have all made goal contributions.
- Five Boys in Blue have made goal contributions during the club’s first two matches of 2024. Defender Joel Sangwa, midfielder Ollie Wright, and forward Adem Sipić each have one goal while midfielder Brennan Creek and forward Maximus Ekk each have one assist.
