Huntsville, Ala. (June 9, 2023)– Huntsville City Football Club will complete its first ever homestand at the Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium when it hosts St Louis CITY2 on Sunday, June 11 at 6 p.m. CT. The match, which is the only meeting between the two clubs this season, will also serve to honor the U.S. Army’s 248th birthday.
Huntsville City FC will host many amenities to honor our country's first military branch, some of which include: a Color Guard from the Alabama Army National Guard, a ceremonial cannon that will go off before the match and after every goal, and the National Anthem performed by Sgt. First Class Robert Laughery of the 151st Band and the Alabama Army National Guard.
Additionally, HCFC will honor community members and organizations making a difference in our city at every home match. This Sunday, Section 256, a special section in the stadium dedicated to celebrating our community, will host guests from Still Serving Veterans, an organization aimed at serving and honoring veterans and their families by empowering them to build meaningful lives through connections to fulfilling careers, benefits, and services.
Peggy Lee & TJ Wright will also be honored with the Landers McLarty Chevrolet Military Salute, as Veteran Service Representative at Still Serving Veterans Moses Nervis is honored as this week’s Hero of the Match.
