Columbus, Ohio (June 25, 2023) – Huntsville City Football Club fell 1-0 at Columbus Crew 2. It’s the first time Huntsville has been shut out since May 5 when they also lost to Columbus Crew 2 1-0.

Both teams had several chances in the first half, but neither side could break the scoreless draw in the first 45 minutes. Huntsville Goalkeeper John Berner had four saves in the first half.

Columbus would get a breakthrough early in the second half. Despite many chances and several attacking substitutions, the hosts would hold off Huntsville to pick up the win and end Huntsville’s winning streak.

After the match, Head Coach Jack Collison spoke about the team’s performance, goalkeeper John Berner’s impact, getting some injured players back on the field, and what the team needs to do in the second half of the season to make the playoffs.

Huntsville City FC will return to action next weekend to take on New England Revolution II at 6 p.m. CT on Sunday, July 2 at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. Tickets for the match can be purchased here.
