Huntsville, Ala. (April 19, 2024) – Huntsville City Football Club will play Chattanooga FC for the second time this season when the club hosts its Tennessee visitors on Saturday, April 20 at 7 p.m. CT at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium.
Here are five things to know for Saturday’s match, airing live on MLS Season Pass on AppleTV.
- Huntsville City FC earned a 2-2 draw against Chattanooga at Finley Stadium on March 16. After trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Boys in Blue knotted the score at one in the 50th minute when forward Adem Sipić found the back of the net. Chattanooga grabbed the lead from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute, but substitute Ollie Wright scored just moments later to earn a draw. Chattanooga claimed the extra point with a 3-2 shootout win.
- Newly signed midfielder Faiz Opande is eligible to make his Huntsville debut on Saturday. The 19-year-old Kenyan last played with Elite Falcons FC in the United Arab Emirates’ FKF Division Two, where he appeared seven times and helped the club earn promotion to Division One. Internationally, Opande represented Kenya in the 2020 CECAFA U17 Championship and is currently a member of the country's U20 squad.
- Eight Boys in Blue have added to the score sheet this season. Defenders Joel Sangwa and Scott Cheevers, midfielders Jony Bolaños, Brennan Creek, and Ollie Wright, and forward Adem Sipić have all scored goals, while Sangwa, Creek, midfielder Alejandro Velazquez-Lopez, and forward Maximus Ekk have all recorded assists. Bolaños and Creek lead the team in goal contributions (3).
- Forward Cannon Scretchen became the 11th Boy in Blue age 20 or younger to appear for HCFC this season when he was subbed on in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Crown Legacy. He joins 10 other 20 and younger Huntsville players to see the field in 2024: goalkeeper Jacob Grekowicz, defenders Chris Applewhite, Fernando Ciceron, and Scott Cheevers, midfielders Isaiah Jones, Sergi Oriol, Alejandro Velazquez-Lopez, and Dominic Wilson, and forwards Maximus Ekk and Adem Sipić.
- Three Boys in Blue have started every match this season: defender Fernando Ciceron and midfielders Isaiah Jones and Jony Bolaños. Additionally, defender Scott Cheevers, midfielders Brennan Creek, Izzy Johnston, and Ollie Wright, and forward Maximus Ekk have appeared in each match.
