Following the team's dominant 6-2 victory over Inter Miami II on Saturday, April 13th in front of nearly 4,000 fans at Finley Stadium, Chattanooga FC has been awarded the honor of MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 5.
The league-wide recognition comes after Chattanooga FC put in a comprehensive performance, scoring four goals before half-time thanks largely to a hat-trick and an assist from Jalen James. Captain Alex McGrath also scored a brace, while Ethan Koren scored his first professional goal to add the cherry on top in stoppage time.
It was the highest-scoring match from a CFC men's team in the organization's professional era and it was the most goals a CFC men's team had scored in a single match since a 9-0 win over AFC Mobile on April 27, 2019.
The team remains unbeaten in league play and sits in second place in the Southeast Division, fourth in the Eastern Conference and eighth in the 29-team overall standings for MLS NEXT Pro. Eight teams in each conference will qualify for the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.
Chattanooga FC's next match will be against Southeast Division rivals Huntsville City FC on Saturday, April 20 for an 8:00 p.m. ET (7:00 p.m. local CT) kick-off at Wicks Family Field in Huntsville, Alabama.
